Help The Planet With Green Gadgets
Introduction to Green Gadgets and Green Products
There are many green gadgets and green products available these days and while some are cool and some not so much they all have one thing in common. All green gadgets can help the planet and save the environment. There are many ways these sometimes quirky gadgets can help the earth, some help because they are made from completely recycled products, others actually use sun, water, or wind to generate the power they consume. The green movement is growing in popularity and justifiably so. If we continue using the Earth's resources the way we currently do there will be none left for our children and grandchildren. The costs for energy continue to rise because the demand is greater than the supply and by going green we can move toward a more energy independent future. We will take a look at a few green gadgets here and although everyone may not want to use all of these, I hope for the sake of saving our environment everyone finds something here that they can use to do their part for the green movement. A great place to find green gadgets on the web is Golden Gadgets, they have LED lights, solar energy products, and many cell phone and gadget accessories. The link opens in a new window so you can browse their products and continue here. Remember to leave a comment and feel free to stumble or digg this or any of my articles.
Green Gadgets for Home and Garden Lighting
New designer lamps that use LED – available from Yves Behar, EcoCentric and others. There are different models available that offer a range of features. Some offer touch controls for turning the light on or off, some allow you to adjust the brightness level or color temperature, and others even allow adjustment to the lighting angle. Many of these lights are made from 95% recycled materials and most use very little energy.
Solar garden lights – These lights can turn themselves on at dusk and then turn off at dawn, They get there power completely from the sun and are able to store the power until it is dark. There is no wiring needed so just stick them in the ground and you are done.
Solar Powered Flashlights
BoGo Solar Flashlight – With this flashlight purchase you get one and one gets donated to a charity in need. BoGoLight makes a solar flashlight and they use an acronym for “Bogo” that means “Buy one, Give one”. What BogoLight does is give one solar powered flashlight to charity for each one purchased at either $29.00 or $59.00 depending which light you choose. Forever Flashlights – These flashlights require shaking for about 30 to 60 seconds to generate power and you get about 5 minutes of light. You can shake it again for about 10 to 20 seconds for additional light. This flashlight is waterproof and it doesn't use bulbs or batteries, it uses an LED for light and a magnet that runs over a coil when shaken is what gives the power.

Cuisinart's GreenGourmet – Cookware that has the exclusive Cuisinart Ceramica nonstick surface. This is a petroleum-free, ceramic-based coating that does not contain PTFE and PFOA, substances typically used in nonstick cookware have often raised health concerns. Solar Chargers for Batteries and Mobile Devices
Among the most popular green gadgets are these lightweight and compact this solar chargers that can charge an iPhone, iPod, and other mobile devices. Using solar energy to charge your phone or other mobile device can completely free you from the cord. This unit is small enough it can fit in your pocket and can connect and charge your mobile devices in 2-3 hours. This unit also comes with many adapters for iPhone, iPod, Blackberry, and others.
Solar Charger for Rechargeable batteries – Rechargeable batteries are handy but they still take electricity to charge. Now with a solar charger you no longer need electricity to recharge them. This makes your batteries more eco-friendly and works with both Ni-MH and Ni-Cad.
Green Gadgets For The Kids: Solar Powered Backpacks
This is the top product on my list. You can make your children green with this one. Instead of fighting over outlets to charge all of the mobile devices kids have these days they can use this backpack to keep them charged all day long. The backpack has a solar panel in it that will provide power to charge music players, phones, and many other portable devices. This one uses no batteries and will even work indoors. This particular one is about $130 at Green and More.
